Westfield's Heart and Soul Free Clinic to offer flu shots to the uninsured, hires new executive director

Westfield, IN - The Heart and Soul Free Clinic, Inc. a free health clinic in Westfield, announced today that it will be partnering with Walgreen’s pharmacists and store management to offer free flu shots to individuals 11 years of age and older without health insurance in Hamilton County and the surrounding areas. The free flu shots will be available on a walk-in basis at the Heart and Soul Clinic located at 202 Penn Street in downtown Westfield (next to City Hall) from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the following dates:
Saturday, September 12
Saturday, September 19
Saturday, September 26
“We are excited that we are able to partner with our local Walgreen’s to offer such a valuable service to individuals in the community that do not have health insurance.” said Heather Brownell, executive director of the Heart and Soul Clinic. “Without caring partners such as Walgreen’s, we would not able to help those in need take care of their health and well-being regardless of their financial status or current situation in life.”
Brownell, a native of Indiana and a Westfield resident, recently become the first professional executive director of the Heart and Soul Clinic. Prior to coming on board with the Heart and Soul Clinic, she was the director of group sales at Woodland Entertainment Center (formerly Woodland Bowl) and her past experience includes serving as the executive director of the Indiana Bowling Centers Association, Inc. and the Central Indiana Bowling Centers Association, Inc. Before Brownell and part-time Executive Assistant Lori Solazzo joined the clinic, it was staffed by all volunteers.
Founded in 2009, the Heart and Soul Free Clinic, Inc. is a non-profit, faith-based, nondenominational free health clinic. The Heart and Soul Clinic provides free non-emergency health care for individuals without insurance or who are underinsured regardless of financial status in Hamilton County and the surrounding areas. All services are provided without consideration of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, age, disability or sexual orientation.
