Westfield, IN - The Heart and Soul Free Clinic announced today that it will be conducting its annual campaign to help fund the operational costs of the clinic and expand the health care services it provides for 2016. Founded in 2009, the Heart and Soul Free Clinic provides health care to individuals in Hamilton County and the surrounding areas who are uninsured or underinsured. The theme of the annual campaign is “You Make a Difference” and the goal for the annual campaign is $80,000.

The funds that are given towards this year’s annual campaign will allow the Heart and Soul Free Clinic to continue to serve those in the community who need medical help the most and expand the clinic’s services and hours in 2016. “Even with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and the Healthy Indiana Plan 2.0, 90% of our patients remain uninsured or underinsured and 94% of our patients do not have dental insurance or access to dental care,” said Executive Director Heather Brownell.

Beginning in January, the clinic will expand its hours and be open every Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. By spring, the clinic plans to open a dental clinic and provide childhood immunizations for school-aged children. “It is our goal to expand the services and hours of the clinic, but additional support from the community is necessary,” said Brownell. Meeting the campaign goal will also allow the clinic to continue to provide prescriptions and lab tests for patients.
